How to Style Green this Summer

The month we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived, but has your summer style? If not, our fashion editor, Natalie Fuorvito, is here to talk about what to wear on summer days and summer nights. From the colour trends she has forecasted for July to the prints she predicts everyone will be wearing, whether they’re dancing at a beach bar at golden hour or sipping after work Aperols. So, grab yourself an iced coffee and let’s get stuck in!

Shop Green

Pistachio

Let’s start light and deepen things up as we go. First up: pistachio green, a perfect shade for summer whether you’re eating gelato in Rome or watching the football at your local. It’s this summer’s stand in for classic white but so much cooler. Just muted enough to work as a neutral and get on with the rest of your wardrobe (i.e jorts and sandals) but with a certain je ne sais quoi that let’s everyone know that you know what you’re doing style wise. This halterneck jumpsuit is the perfect pistachio piece for wedding guests everywhere who want to mix things up.

Chartreuse

Now we’re getting warmer, or rather, brighter with chartreuse. Known as a greenish-yellow or yellow-green, the shade chartreuse can be very bold and bright or more muted so the final look is up to you. This mesh floral two piece chose the more muted route but that hasn’t dimmed the matching set’s big reveal. Wear together or separately for compliments all night long. The light mesh fabric means it’s ideal for tight luggage allowances and the mix of chartreuse and brown just begs for a pop of gold. Hoops, heels, a handbag, too much metallic isn't a thing with this one.

Olive

While we’re team Olive here at RI HQ, we realise that this particular bar snack is a love or hate affair. When it comes to the shade however we’re pretty sure that it’s a universal big fat yes. Take the briny taste away and what are you left with? A deep, almost seductive shade of green that looks so good after-dark. Whether you wear it alone or mixed with other lighter shades (see above) and metallics, summer evenings won’t know what hit them. Our current favourite styling trick is mixing in a pop of leopard print. Try it before you knock it. Same goes for olives.

Khaki

And last but certainly not least is khaki: our darkest shade of green. We’ll spare you the camouflage jokes but just know that blending into the crowd in this beauty isn’t an option. From our grungy military jacket that will last you through the chilliest summer nights into autumn winter days seamlessly to the tailored mini skort of balmy dreams, khaki is the shade to invest in this July. A dark (green) horse in the neutral arena but one that packs a punch every single time with strong  wardrobe staple promise.

Accessories

An honourable mention goes to all our green accessories that work tirelessly to make our outfits the best they can be. Whether that’s a patent moss clutch or an olive (and gold) statement necklace, sometimes it’s the little(r) things that make the biggest difference. Step into the limelight with this lot and watch the compliments roll in.
