WHAT TO WEAR ACCORDING TO EMILY IN PARIS

This autumn, we’ll be taking some style cues from Emily in Paris season four. It’s been a long year (and eight months) of waiting, but the full season of our favourite TV show is here, with Emily bringing her bold – sometimes outrageous – fashion ensembles to our screens, from both Paris and Rome. We’re ready to colour clash and hit the slopes in her honour.

First up, our take on that blue suit.

An all cobalt blue suit? Stunning. Make it denim, triple it (with a matching waistcoat) and you’ve got something equally Emily and River. Emily’s season four style is more masculine and Parisian cool than when she first arrived from across the pond. The increase in tailoring and trousers, always in her signature bold colour palette and clashing prints, shows time passing and how comfortable within herself (and Paris) she has become.

Clashing Prints

Emily is, first and foremost, a risk taker. She loves to have fun with fashion and is forever playing with print in a way the more faint-hearted amongst us wouldn’t dare. Whether that’s houndstooth and polka, fringe on fringe on fringe, deckchair stripes with a patchwork knitted vest, she shows time and again that she isn't afraid to mix prints.

Bold Palettes

There’s nothing “quiet” about the luxury piece Emily wears. Yes, occasionally we see her in more muted tones but generally she’s a full spectrum dresser. From acid green paired with bubblegum pink to a masterclass in colour drenching with those head to toe cobalt blue and canary yellow looks, Emily isn’t concerned about staying within the lines. Her wardrobe is her canvas and she’s always ready to paint.

Autumn Inspo

Season four definitely looks a lot chillier than it is IRL but we’re not complaining. Emily has been serving up constant inspiration for our new season wardrobes, in particular the upcoming preppy trend. We plan to live in cute pleated mini skirts, chunky cropped knits and faux fur coats as soon as the temperature drop hits. When it comes to Emily’s fashion sense, when she says “jump”, we say “how high?”.

Ski Bunny, Who?

We binged part one in under 24 hours (don’t tell our boss) and finally, part two has been released. What we’re most excited about is Emily’s foray into the ski bunny trend courtesy of the iconic Audrey Hepburn. We did a double take at Emily’s lookalike moment and can’t wait to add a glamorous edge to all our future winter outfits. It’s après, the RI way.
